You may have seen the announcement that a couple friends and I are starting a St. Louis group of Wine & Gyn next month. What the heck is this, you might be thinking, and why is it necessary? What ever happened to a good old fashioned book club get-together?
Wine & Gyn is the awesome creation of San Diego-based midwives Tiffany Alblinger and Kelly Pappas. I found them randomly through the connective powers of Instagram and became enamored with their mission of normalizing and celebrating the female body. I followed along on their journey showing off their California meetings and listened to their podcast diving deeper into educational topics splattered with their silly banter.
When Tiffany reached out to me about possibly starting a StL-based Wine & Gyn group I jumped at the opportunity! I handpicked my dream co-leader Brittany and met Tiffany’s sweet cousin Melanie who lives in the area and graciously offered to host. We worked out the details (meetings every 2nd to last Wednesday of the month), discussed the all-important detail of what kind of wine to provide, and now we’re getting the word out in preparation for our 1st meeting October 23 6:30-8:30 PM near Grant’s Farm. From then, we'll have monthly get-togethers on the 2nd to last Wednesday of every month.
Each time, we’ll come with wine, a good time, and topics to guide discussions. We just ask that you come with questions, personal anecdotes, and an open mind! This isn’t a group to substitute for medical care or troubleshoot your medical problems; this group will talk through all kinds of women-centered topics to help you better understand and celebrate your body!
We’ll address topics that apply to all women – moms and non-moms, sexually active and celibate, young and not-so young. Call your sister; tell your neighbor; bring a friend! Let’s have a good time learning about ourselves as women!
